Community Health Priorities

The 2017-2020 Marathon County Community Health Improvement Plan target population is residents of Marathon County and will guide the work of the Marathon County Health Department, Healthy Marathon County, healthcare organizations, local coalitions, and community organizations. The Marathon County Board of Health and members of the Healthy Marathon County Board of Directors reviewed indicators from the 2015-2017 Marathon County LIFE Report (.pdf, 5 MB) to identify the community health priorities.

The 2017-2020 the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) was designed to establish common goals for each identified health priority to guide mutually reinforcing activities, utilize best practice strategies, ensure continuous communication, and establish shared measurements with evaluation components.

The Marathon County 2017-2020 CHIP is designed to ensure all residents can understand the importance of addressing the identified community health priorities.

Since 1993, Wisconsin State Statutes have required communities throughout Wisconsin to develop and implement local health plans to address health conditions affecting their residents. The goal is to develop a CHIP to identify community health priorities and to development an action plan that aligns with the National Public Health Accreditation standards.
